The moon will rise at 7:38 p.m. Eastern, having become full at 5:50 p.m. eastern. The first full moon after the Harvest Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon. October 2013.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac says that some Native Americans would call tonight’s moon A Hunter’s Moon because it started the beginning of hunting season to prepare their selves for winter. Also, hunters could see prey more easily in the fields, that had been harvested…
Plus, there’s a lunar eclipse too. Not a total eclipse but it’s called a penumbral eclipse, the Earth’s outer shadow partially covers the moon. You might see a little darkening. It starts around 5:50 p.m. and is visible until about 9:50 p.m.
I am happy that I ventured out to view… As you can see it was still very light out… It really was an event to see…
